Ocean Bird Foundation International (Zimbabwe) and Ocean Bird Healthcare International (South Africa) Announce Historic Merger
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – January 17, 2025– Ocean Bird Foundation International (Zimbabwe) and Ocean Bird Healthcare International (South Africa) have officially announced their merger, marking a significant milestone in the healthcare and health & safety training sectors in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The merger, effective as of today, unites the two sister companies under the unified branding of Ocean Bird Foundation International (OBFI), while retaining their individual legal identities and registrations. This strategic partnership is set to enhance collaboration, streamline operations, and improve the efficiency of healthcare and health & safety training services provided in both countries.

In Zimbabwe, the Competition Act [Chapter 14:28] and the Companies and Other Business Entities Act [Chapter 24:31] provide a regulatory foundation for mergers and acquisitions, ensuring fair competition and economic growth. In South Africa, the Companies Amendment Act, 2024, offers a robust legal framework that supports the merger, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements.

The newly formed Joint Steering Committee (JSC), comprising representatives from both Ocean Bird Foundation International (Zimbabwe) and Ocean Bird Healthcare International (South Africa), will oversee the strategic direction and operations of the unified entity. The JSC is tasked with key decisions related to finance, operations, and overall strategic planning, ensuring that the merger aligns with the shared vision of both organizations.
